A fractal is generally "a rough or fragmented geometric shape that can be split into parts, each of which is (at least approximately) a reduced-size copy of the whole," a property called self-similarity." Because they appear similar at all levels of magnification, fractals are often considered to be infinitely complex. Natural objects that approximate fractals to a degree include clouds, mountain ranges, lightning bolts, coastlines, and snow flakes.

Pete Fornatale
Pete Fornatale's first show in July 1969 on WNEW FM is being re broadcast now on WFUV. It is essential listening. In 1969, I was 16, had spent the first part of the summer in Montana at an Encampment for Citizenship, watched the men land on the moon, and was about ready to head to Woodstock with my best friends. It was an amazing time, not to be debased or trivialized. If you listen to Pete's show, it comes back like a steamroller. Try to find it.
